Go early! There is FREE parking in either a multi-story garage or a parking lot. This play area in the Denver Airport has since been remodeled and the play area is GONE as of 2019. It was located on the mezzanine level of Concourse/Terminal B. There is also a fried chicken food truck. Not Anymore Years ago, this huge airport offered a kid-friendly unsupervised play area for children to jump, play and explore. However, they have lots of dining options on site to address all kinds of interests: popcorn, pretzels, hotdogs, hamburgers, etc. Do this!! There are so many beautiful places for a picnic. Zoo volunteers were conveniently placed throughout the zoo explaining facts about the animals, and keepers were interacting with several of the animals doing feedings, educational seminars, or allowing kids to interact with an animal ambassador. It makes the city come to life with activity and brings business and entertainment together. The enclosures were clean, and the animals looked well taken care of. Likewise, the elephants too had a bridge that allowed them to roam across another enclosure. It was awesome to see them from a different perspective. Do note that Denver is a large airport with pretty long security lines unless you have TSA Pre.
Just go to Union Station and explore a very thriving, exciting part of downtown Denver. I have been to zoos all over the country, and this facility was fantastic!! I loved the new tiger enclosure that allowed the tigers to walk up above the crowds on catwalks. But you can hop a light rail and be in the heart of downtown in about 35-40 minutes.
